Kochersberger, Charles Wilson * June 22, 1979
Charles Wilson KOCHERSBERGER was born June 22, 1979 in Binghampton, Broome County, New York, USA, as son of Robert Charles II and Janet (Cooper) Kochersberger. He was a descendant of Christian I Kochersperger, who settled in 1838 in Newtown, Queens County, New York, USA, coming from von Oberbetschdorf, district of Weissenburg, Alsace, France.
Charles Wilson moved to Raleigh with his family when he was 6. He attended Raleigh public schools (Wiley, Martin and Enloe) before graduating from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., in 2001 with a degree in political science. Charlie's first job was as a teacher assistant with kindergartners and first-graders at Oak Grove Elementary School. His relationships with these youngsters created many happy memories. He was named teacher assistant of the year in 2003. Charlie began a graduate program in elementary counseling at N.C. State University in 2005. Prior to that, Charlie spent a semester at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, N.C., pursuing his interest in cars.
Charlie had many interests - working on cars, playing Frisbee golf with his friends, playing his guitar and writing music. His family and friends can attest to his delight in puns and crossword puzzles and games, and he was a voracious reader of literature, both modern and classic. During the past three years, Charlie struggled to regain his footing, which he lost to drug addiction and depression. Yet even in these darker years, Charlie was able to bring a light heart and cheerful word to family and friends.
Charles Wilson Kochersberger, 28, died unexpectedly July 5, 2007.
